I will be going phuket for 5 days. Wanted to prevent any roaming data charges during my trip.
I would like to know where to get the prepaid data sim card, if my iPhone needs to be unlocked to use the data sim card and how to get it working for my iPhone. Also, how long will the data sim card last?

If your iphone is still under warranty make sure unlocking it won’t cancel your warranty.
As for how long it will last; it all depends on how many credits you buy and how many minutes you talk and who you are calling (international vs domestic).

I went on my first O/S holiday with my sis to Phuket last year and want to do something similar soon – good night life, shopping, adventure etc with my boyfriend. We were looking at Bali (want somewhere cheap) but with all the unrest, it is probably not such a good idea. Does anyone have any other cheap, fun places to go?

how about Krabi just east of Phuket. Phuket is one of the expensive places here in Thailand Krabi in the off season is cheap and things to do. Or maybe for some wild night life try Pattaya.

We are planning to continue the flight from Bangkok to Phuket at the same day of arrival to Bangkok.
Is it better to book the flight on line in advance from my home country or to do it when I am already in Bangkok?
Are tickets avalable any time? In which case the price is lower?

This question doesn’t even need to be asked. If you plan to arrive in Bangkok and fly to Phuket same day of course you should book in advance.

Remember that you need at least two to three hours between flights. This is for getting through immigrations and baggage and check in at least one hour prior to your flight to Phuket.

Also check baggage allowance for your domestic flight. They are a lot lower then international flights and will cost you for extra baggage weight.
